Privacy information for people answering a survey
Who is asking
The organisation that sent you this link decided to ask you these questions. They are responsible for your answers and for what happens to them.
Voivey provides the software they used. Voivey is a trading name of Digestible Tech Ltd, company number 11913276, registered at Crown House, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX.
If you want your answers changed or removed, ask the organisation that sent you the link. You can also email stefan@voivey.com and we will pass it on.
There is no recording
We do not record your voice and we do not store any audio.
While you talk, your browser sends the audio straight to our speech provider, which turns it into text as you speak. The audio does not pass through our servers and nothing is kept. Only the words come back.
The words on screen are the words as heard. They are not rewritten. You can change an answer before you finish.
What is kept, and who it belongs to
Your answers belong to the organisation that sent you the link.
- The text of your answers
- Which questions you were asked, including any follow-up questions
- Whether you spoke or typed each answer, and whether you switched
- How long each answer took, and how long you spoke for
- Your browser and device type
- Anything you were asked to enter before starting, such as your name or email, if the organisation asked for it
What Voivey keeps for itself
Only records of how a conversation ran, holding none of the words. How long an answer took, whether it was spoken or typed, how many follow-ups were asked, and which version of the software asked them.
No text from your answers is kept for our own purposes. We do not read your answers to improve the product.
If the survey does not show the organisation who said what
Some surveys are set up so the organisation can see the answers but cannot tell which answer is yours. In those surveys we keep the record of who took part separately from the answers, with times rounded to the hour, so the two cannot be lined up.
This reduces the chance of being identified. It does not remove it. Somebody who describes a very specific incident can still be recognisable from what they said. That is true of every free-text survey ever run.
Who sees your answers
- The organisation that sent you the link.
- Our speech provider, which turns your speech into text.
- Our model provider, which decides which follow-up questions to ask and writes the summary for the organisation.
We do not sell your answers and we do not use them for advertising.
Where your data goes
Our speech provider and our model provider are based in the United States, so your answers leave the UK.
That transfer rests on one of two things. Either the provider is covered by UK adequacy regulations, including the UK extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Or Voivey has the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, in place with them, together with a transfer risk assessment.
You can ask for a copy of the safeguards. Ask the organisation that sent you the link, or write to us.
How long it is kept
The organisation that sent you the link decides. They can delete any answer at any time, and everything goes when they close their account.
Audio left over from before we stopped storing it is deleted automatically within 24 hours.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your answers, ask for them to be corrected or deleted, or object to them being used.
Ask the organisation that sent you the link first, because your answers are theirs. If you cannot reach them, email stefan@voivey.com.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
